At EMCO, our referring veterinarians aren’t just our colleagues, but our friends. We aim to form long-lasting relationships with the primary care practitioners we serve and exceed your expectations for timely communication regarding referred and hospitalized horses, as well as consultation on field cases. We see ourselves as a member of your team in providing the best possible service to your clients and medical care for their horses.
Referring a case?
If you are sending in an emergency or have an urgent referral, please contact the hospital at 352-873-7830. The administrative assistant will take down the client and patient information, including a contact number before transferring you to the appropriate specialist or intern on call to obtain the history. After hours, our on-site veterinarian answers incoming emergency calls and will then contact the appropriate specialist for your case.
Information for your clients
We do require a deposit prior to admission for all emergencies and payment is due in full at the time of discharge for all hospitalized patients. For daytime appointments, an estimate is given for anticipated services and additional diagnostics are discussed throughout the evaluation. Payment is due at the time of services. We do accept Care Credit and clients are able to apply through our office during business hours.
After hours, your client will be attended to by our on-site veterinarian. Depending on the situation, the attending specialist may also be present or may be called in based upon the initial triage examination. The attending specialist is contacted regarding all admitted cases and oversees the case management.
